craniosacral therapy is a gentle, non-invasive approach that is appropriate for people of all ages, including infants, children, adults, and older adults. for most individuals, it is a safe and supportive therapy.
in some situations, however, it is important to discuss your health history with Jennifer and, when appropriate, consult with your physician or mental health provider before beginning treatment. this collaborative approach helps ensure that craniosacral therapy is integrated safely and thoughtfully into your overall care.
additional guidance may be appropriate for individuals with:
mental & emotional health
a history of psychosis related to a mood or personality disorder
dissociative identity disorder (DID)
schizophrenia
bipolar I or bipolar II disorder
current or recent suicidal thoughts or suicide attempts
current self-harming behaviors
a history of harming others during periods of emotional dysregulation
certain medical conditions
a recent concussion or stroke (within the past two weeks)
an active cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak
any condition for which your physician has advised avoiding manual therapy or has recommended medical clearance before beginning treatment
if you have questions about whether craniosacral therapy is appropriate for your situation, please don't hesitate to reach out. Jennifer is happy to discuss your health history and, when appropriate, collaborate with your healthcare team to determine the safest and most supportive path forward.

every body is different, and your treatment plan will be tailored to your individual needs and goals.
while some clients notice meaningful changes after a single session, lasting improvements often come with consistent care. healing takes time, and each session builds upon the last as your body adapts and restores balance.
adults
for ongoing or chronic concerns, many adults benefit from weekly or every-other-week sessions for 6–8 weeks, followed by reassessment and a personalized maintenance plan, if needed.
children & teens
children often respond best to shorter, more frequent sessions. Jennifer typically recommends an initial visit followed by two or three weekly follow-up sessions before reassessing your child's progress.
infants & toddlers
infants and toddlers also tend to benefit from shorter, consistent visits. following the initial session, two or three weekly follow-up appointments are commonly recommended before determining the next steps.
because appointments may book several weeks in advance, families are encouraged to schedule their follow-up visits when booking their initial appointment.
-
all craniosacral therapy sessions are performed fully clothed.
for your comfort, we recommend wearing lightweight, comfortable clothing that allows you to relax easily throughout your session. because treatment may include gentle contact with the head, neck, feet, hands, and ears, you may wish to remove items such as bulky jewelry, hats, or tight socks before your session.
the most important thing is that you feel comfortable and at ease.
-
no. while both are hands-on therapies, craniosacral therapy is a distinctly different approach.
craniosacral therapy uses an exceptionally gentle touch—no more than approximately five grams of pressure, about the weight of a nickel resting on your fingertip. rather than manipulating muscles or applying deep pressure, CST uses skilled, light-touch techniques to gently listen to the body, helping identify and release areas of restriction that may be affecting the nervous system and overall function.
because the body's tissues, connective system, and nervous system are intricately connected, subtle work in one area can influence comfort, mobility, regulation, and balance throughout the body.
craniosacral therapy is practiced by a variety of licensed and certified healthcare professionals, including physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, dentists, massage therapists, and certified craniosacral therapists.
at held space, we believe the body is always communicating. our role is to listen with intention, respond with gentle precision, and support the body's innate capacity for healing.
-
absolutely.
held space is a family-centered practice, and we understand that many of our clients are parents and caregivers. supervised little ones are always welcome here.
children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian throughout their session.
if you're bringing your child to your own appointment, we simply ask that you bring quiet activities to help keep them comfortably occupied during your session. while we welcome children in our space, our treatment room is intentionally small to create a peaceful environment, and your ability to fully relax may be influenced by your child's needs during the visit.
for everyone's safety, children may not be left unattended in the waiting area or elsewhere in the office.
if you have questions about bringing your child to your appointment, please don't hesitate to reach out. we're happy to help you determine what will make for the most comfortable experience for both you and your family.
-
Unfortunaltey we do not accept insurance at this time.
-
your appointment time is reserved especially for you. we kindly ask that you honor that time whenever possible.
because appointment availability is limited, we require at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling. appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, or missed without notice, will be charged the full session fee. this policy allows us to better serve clients who may be waiting for an appointment and helps support the sustainability of our small practice.
if you or your child are experiencing symptoms of illness or are recovering from a contagious illness, please stay home and reschedule your visit. caring for yourself—and protecting the health of others—is always the right choice, and we will never fault you for doing so.
thank you for respecting both your reserved time and the time of others in our held space community.
